PNR Italia joins FISPES meeting

PNR Italia was one of the partners and sponsors of the FISPES meeting, on May 18th and 19th in Voghera.

Children with physical and cognitive disabilities who play with able-bodied peers under the watchful eye of trained instructors who share training programs for mixed teams: Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th in Voghera was a weekend’s sports capital of disability.

The initiative, organized by the Movisport association, with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Voghera (departments of Sport-Leisure and Family), in collaboration with Cip (Italian Paralympic Committee) and Fispes (Italian Federation of Experimental Paralympic Sports), is aimed at boys with physical and cognitive disabilities and able-bodied young people, who together will train and play in the facilities of the Campo Giovani and the Don Orione Center.

“Sport is therefore an important tool for integration and inclusion – the organizers explain -, a means to change the look on the world of disability by paying attention not to the latter, but to the person and his different abilities.”

The initiative was born starting from the retreat organized in Voghera for the boys of the Fispes school (the fourth in 2019) integrating it with the Paralympic and Movisport technicians to broaden their vision on disability and share general rules to train mixed teams. Voghera will try to adopt the motto Fispes: “being beyond the limits means challenging oneself, to overcome one’s limits and help others overcome their prejudices”.

On Saturday at 3pm the children, both able-bodied and with disabilities (from 6 to 12 years), dedicated themselves to the various athletic disciplines together with the Movisport and Fispes technicians to try a shared training mode.

At 4 pm the program in the inner hall of the Youth Camp was the conference “The wealth of disability through the values ​​of Sport” in which the councilor Simona Virgilio and Gianfranco Geremondia, Riccardo Ambrosi (contact person for the Scuola Fispes families), Renzo Verniani ( National coach of amputees football), Alina Simion (of Polha Varese company who set the Italian record of 400T64), Stefano Travisani (world champion Mix Team Para Arcieri), Debora De Vitis (mother of Pietro, football school Fispes), Valentina Pavone and Tamara Nespoli (Movisport Managers).

Finally, on Sunday from 10am there was the gathering of the “Scuola Fispes” boys, with training and integrated soccer tournament, in collaboration with local teams.

FISPES, the Italian Paralympic and Experimental Sports Federation, is a Paralympic Sports Federation recognized by the Italian Paralympic Committee, which since 2010 has been promoting and coordinating sports activities for people with disabilities.

FISPES disciplines are:

  • Paralympic athletics practicable by subjects of all physical and sensory disabilities
  • Wheelchair rugby feasible for non-ambulatory individuals with quadriplegia
  • Football for physically disabled people (7-a-side football for brain injuries, Powerchair Football, Amputee Football)
