Safety standards applied to food are becoming increasingly important for consumers.

The World Health Organization states $110 billion in productivity and medical bills from unsafe food are lost annually in low- and middle-income countries.

Food-borne diseases also hinder socio-economic development by putting a strain on health systems and damaging national economies, tourism and trade.

In the food sector, at every stage of product processing, we must be sure to avoid any type of contamination of any origin and the absence of pollutants is essential.

PNR holds various certifications for its products and also in particular for the food industry.

THE CERTIFICATIONS OF PNR ITALIA’S PRODUCTS FOR THE FOOD INDUSTRY

The responsibility for preparing the declaration of conformity is of the so-called “economic operator”, namely “the natural or legal person responsible for ensuring compliance with the provisions of the regulation in the company under his control”. The Declaration is not however unique for the various subjects involved in the production chain of materials in contact with food because there is a real “chain” of Declarations.

An important concept, directly linked to the “chain” of declarations, is the concept of “Traceability”, defined as “the possibility of reconstructing and following the path of materials or objects through all the phases of processing, transformation and distribution” (EC Regulation 1935/2004).

The correct application of the legislation must also take into account all the processing phases – Good Manufacturing Practicesthat is the correct application of the good manufacturing rules, which include traceability, in order to guarantee that during the entire process, from the raw material, to the finished product, up to storage, no behaviors or elements that could affect the quality of the product ever intervene (EC Regulation 2023/2006).

The regulation for materials in contact with food is based on four pillars that companies must follow:

PNR Italia has set up and dedicated an entire part of its company to the manufacturing of products in compliance with food contact materials declaration, with a dedicated warehouse and machines.

3-A Sanitary Standards specify the criteria for the design and fabrication of equipment that comes into contact with food. The guiding purpose of 3-A Sanitary Standards is to protect public health by using sanitary equipment.

3-A Sanitary Standards have two main goals:

  • to protect food from contamination
  • to ensure that all product contact surfaces can be mechanically cleaned and be dismantled easily for manual cleaning or inspection.

The 3-A Symbol is a registered mark used to identify equipment that meets 3-A Sanitary Standards for design and fabrication. Voluntary use of the 3-A Symbol on dairy and food equipment serves three important purposes:

PNR Italia Srl is authorized to apply the 3-A Symbol to CIP models UA3 xxxx B31 xCx, conforming to 3-A Sanitary Standard 78-01: spray cleaning devices intended to remain in place.

This 3-A Sanitary Standard covers the sanitary aspects of spray cleaning devices attached to stainless steel solution supply tubes intended to remain in place during processing operations and used on storage and processing equipment and machinery for milk, milk products, or other comestibles.
