Within chemical industry companies, there are many possibilities for using PNR products.
You may need to wash reactors, tanks or containers using our washing devices (fixed, rotating mono-axial and rotating bi-axial). Chemical compounds may need to be injected inside particular plants, or it may be necessary to cool the fumes or to knock them down. Other applications for which the use of PNR products in the chemical industry may be necessary are the abatement of foams, the mixing of liquids, and the need to carry out high-pressure washings.
Since this is a vast and diverse industry, many other applications could not fit into the previous ones. In this case, we advise our customers to contact PNR directly to provide our support.
One of the most common applications in chemical processing plants is the injection of fluids into various process equipment. For this purpose, PNR can provide many solutions related to the plant type and the fluids’ properties.
Narrow-angle full cone nozzles, wide-angle full cone nozzles, spiral nozzles, and air-assisted atomizers are suitable for the injection of chemicals.
A critical environmental issue in chemical plants is the treatment of exhaust flue gases produced by the production processes. Scrubbers are among the most commonly used devices for air pollution control. They are used to remove particulates and/or pollutants from industrial exhaust streams.
PNR offers different types of nozzles for installation inside scrubbers according to customers’ specifications. The types of nozzles generally used are full cone or spiral. The most important features that nozzles for scrubbers must have are a minimal risk of clogging and a good spray distribution on the target surfaces. In addition to the standard materials (stainless steel AISI 316L and brass), we can offer plastic materials that are resistant to chemicals and corrosion such as, for example, PVC, PP, PVDF and PTFE.
We recommend the use of full cone nozzles of the AA, AL, and AT series to abate fumes in chemical plants.
The foaming phenomenon occurs in several industrial sectors, such as the chemical industry, food, and water treatment plants.
One of the most common methods of foaming control is the use of spray nozzles that must be accurately selected and sized to obtain the desired results.
The following aspects must be considered to choosing the suitable product type:
The two models that are proposed for this application are the full spiral cone nozzles of the E series and the full cone nozzles of the AL series.
In chemical processing, it is often necessary to keep liquids containing solid particles that might precipitate in constant motion or agitation process, or it is required to mix two different fluids.
The most suitable products for these applications are the UPB/UPD mixing eductors. Their robust bell-shaped body minimizes the risk of damage during servicing and their Venturi design assures a high mixing efficiency.
These eductors enable the circulation of large volumes of liquid and are ideal for the continuous mixing and agitation of liquids or solutions inside vessels and tanks. The UPB eductors are installed at the bottom of a tank and pressurized to spray the solution. This flow creates an intense depression that drags the liquid, mixes it with a solution inside the eductor, and sprays it back into the tank quickly.
We recommend the use of UPB and UPD eductors for mixing liquids in the chemical industry.
In chemical plants, it is often necessary to cool the flue gases produced by the production processes when waste heat is not utilized. This cooling action can be performed using different products and systems.
The main purpose is to decrease the temperature of the flue gas using a coolant fluid, usually water. Some of the most relevant parameters to consider are the size of the coolant liquid droplets and the correct spray distribution inside the cooling equipment. Pneumatic atomizers are generally recommended for cooling applications. However, full cone or hollow cone nozzles can sometimes be used, too. In order to select the most suitable product for this application, it is crucial to know many other elements in addition to those mentioned above: the geometry and dimensions of the cooling tower, the operating temperatures, and much more.
We recommend using AT, CAS, CAY, and EE nozzles of pneumatic atomizers to mix liquids in the chemical industry.
Water treatment is crucial for chemical industries. It is very important to keep a good level of filtration of the water and other fluids used for fabricating, processing, washing, cooling and so on.
For this application, PNR can offer various types of filters with different filtration degrees to suit customers’ specific requirements.
We recommend using our VE- series filters for liquid filtration in the chemical industry.
Choosing the best washing system for chemical reactors, tanks, and other equipment is very important, both to achieve the desired degree of cleaning and limit liquid consumption.
Many factors need to be considered when choosing the correct washing head for the situation: the equipment size, the type of dirt to be cleaned, the liquid used for washing and many others.
PNR technicians will help you find the best product for your specific application, considering that there are several choices: static, free spinning, controlled rotation, gear-controlled, and high-pressure tank washing devices.
