On the occasion of the first National Day of energy saving, PNR Italia turns off the lights
On the occasion of the first National Day of energy saving and sustainable lifestyles scheduled for February 16, 2023, our company has decided to join the initiative “M’illumino di Meno” (literally: I light up less) that Rai Radio2 with the radio program Caterpillar organizes annually since 2005 to spread the culture of environmental sustainability and resource savings.
What’s “M’illumino di Meno”?
Year after year, M’illumino di Meno has promoted and recounted the small and big actions that each of us can do to save the Planet: choosing the bike instead of the car, switching to renewable, sharing, planting trees, eliminating food waste, and recycling correctly. Today, the urgency of these individual and collective actions has risen, showing us the effects on the nature of years of environmental exploitation.
PNR Italia will turn off its perimeter lights the night between 16 and 17 February to launch a message of substantial participation in the initiative.
Our concrete commitment
A new photovoltaic system
Over the years, many improvements have been made to our energy supply methodologies, such as solar panels on the roof and those that are being installed in the parking lot.
The current photovoltaic system is 202.2 kwp; in 2022, it produced 234.65 MWh, and since its activation (June 2020), it has produced 605.55 MWh. With these new panels, we will add 70 kwp for a production expected in 80 MWh per year.

New heat pumps
In February 2023 we decommissioned the old gas boilers in favor of heat pumps, eliminating the emission of combustion fumes.
Thanks to their operation with electricity, in the future it will be possible to power the heat pumps with the energy produced by our photovoltaic system, aiming at energy independence.
